Story 4

I am regularly asked by friends or family if I already have a boyfriend, even though I don’t just fall for boys. This is also often done by people I hardly ever see and barely know (think an aunt you see twice a year on a birthday).

I feel misunderstood and pigeonholed. Even though people don’t know I’m bisexual, I still feel uncomfortable. Besides, it feels like there is something wrong with me or that it is weird that I don’t have a partner, because in my opinion, this question implies that it would be normal if I did have a boyfriend and that it is weird when I say I don’t have one.

When people use general terms, I feel more comfortable answering and possibly explaining that I don’t just fall for guys.
